Busy Weekend

This weekend was a particularly busy one. I decided to have my sister and her 4 kids over for the weekend seeing as she just had her 4th baby in February and I had yet to see him. Not to mention I hadn't seen any of them since Thanksgiving. I'm nuts, I KNOW! It wasn't too bad, it was just like a zoo here. There were 8 kids at my house! Ages ranging from 2 months to 10 yrs old. It was so great to see her and the kids but I have to admit I was so relieved when the house was back to normal Sunday night. My oldest 2 kids were so sad to see everyone leave, they cried for like and hour off and on after they left. I feel so bad that we don't see much of them but we have such busy lives. I've set a personal goal for myself to try to get together with them at least once a month. I want my kids to grow up knowing how important family is. I never had a real close family being a foster child and losing my parents at such a young age, so I find that to be a really important thing for my kids to grow up with. Well like I said it was a crazy busy weekend but a good one nonetheless. Here are some pics of the kids.

Too Cute

I just thought I would share this picture of melody in her t-ball attire from today. I just thought she looked so cute.

Untitled

Today is going to be such a nice day out and I am really looking forward to it. I cant wait for the sunshine. So yesterday was Marie's first softball practice. Let me tell you it was a fricking NIGHTMARE! for me at least. We get there and the diamond is down this massive hill. I have the twins in their double stroller bouncing them down this huge bumpy hill. That part was kind of funny, they loved it. So we get down there and everything is going good.....for like 4.5 seconds. All of a sudden I have both babies crying while their doing practice, I have people staring at me and I am so freaked out I didnt even know what to do at that moment. Jay was over on the other side of the field watching Marie practice and watching Melody play on the playground so I couldnt get his attention to help. So eventually I just caved and decided it was time to take the babies to the car....OH WAIT! Did I mention that it was a massive hill we had to walk DOWN toget to the field. Therefore that means I now have to walk my big butt up this massive hill with 2 babies and a double stroller, oh and the huge diaper bag, and yes I had to do it by myself. I swear it took me forever. So as if being embaressed by the babies screaming at the same time wasnt mortifying enough I had people looking at me try to conquer this huge hill with the babies. I swear I could hear the Hallelujah chorus when I reached the top. I was out of breath for like 10 min. LOL! I am WAY too out of shape. So moving on. I get the babies in the car and Little Rose decideds shes not happy with that so she continues to scream. I start the car and begin to drive, where i was going I have no idea because we were in an area I am not familiar with at all. All I knew is I needed to drive. So I did for about 40 minutes I went around the same block over and over and over........ I bet your wondering if it worked....That would be a big fat NO! She cried the whole time. I just gave up. You could imagine how happy I was to get home and put the kids to bed....Bittersweet. I would love to share some pictures from the practice yesterday like I did with Melody's first practice, but i went to take my camera out and take a pic and low and behold I forgot to replace the memory card from earlier in the day when i was uploading pictures to my computer. My camera does not work without its memory card. So maybe next time.

Well, needless to say, I told Jay that I will not be joining for the next practice.

Blah

Your probably wondering I have titled this post "Blah." Well because thats the way I have felt the last 2 days. The weather is crappy and were all couped up in the house. It went from 70 and beautiful to 30's and 40's and frigid, oh and did I mention there is a little rain mixed up in all that. I wish summer would just get here already. We have so many fun things planned for the summer. To list a few: we have season passes to the local water park (yeah!), softball and t-ball for the older girls, visiting kansas to visit some family friends, possibly taking a road trip to Texas and many more things those are just the things that came to mind at the moment.

The last few days have been pretty busy. We had the "Fun Fair" at the kids school on friday which I did not attend because I went to the moms of multiples rummage sale. I have to say I got some pretty cute stuff. The kids and Jay had fun at the fun fair. Then on Saturday we had our "Easter # II" at my in laws house which was nice. Then the older girls slept over there for the night. So Jay and I got to actually watch a movie together (rare event in this house). Then on Sunday we just hung out until we had to go and pick up the older girls from their aunt and uncles. It was a nice weekend. So that was my fun filled last few days, now here are some pics for your enjoyment. (lol)

This is the best I could do (after many failed attempts) at getting a picture of the twins in their easter tu tu's

Spring has sprung...FINALLY!

Although I know im probably jumping the gun by saying spring has sprung, who could disagree with a beautiful day like today. 70 degrees and not a cloud in the sky. I of course had to take this opportunity to put the babies in a cute spring outfit (matching of course) and see their reaction to their first time in the grass. Now while Rose was totally enthralled with it, wanting to touch it (and eat it too) Paige on the other hand wanted nothing to do with it. So of course I took some pictures of that. Then one of my good friends stopped by with a gift for the babies. A Jenny Jump Up. So of course we had to assemble it right away and get the babies in it. They werent too sure about it. Actually all they were interested in was eating the straps. I think it's safe to say though that they had fun in it. Well i'm off to the annual Mom of Multiples rummage sale, hoping to find some good buys. Enjoy the pics from today.

New Highchairs

Heres the babies in their new highchairs that grandma and grandpa got for them.

I Can't believe it!

I can't believe it was 7 months ago that I was pregnant with twins. I can't believe how fast time flies by....I can't belive that my babies are already going to be one in just 5 months. I still can't believe I'm a mother of 4 kids. That boggles my mind on a daily basis. It's crazy how life can get so busy sometimes that time just escapes you. I'm so happy with my life and my kids, they are just amazing. They bring so much joy (and chaos) to my life...but its a good balance between the two. Anyway, enough with the mushy stuff. Heres some pics of the twins I took the other day.
MOMMY! Please tell her to stop touching me!
Paige! Your in my bubble....BACK OFF!
Rose, be quiet moms talking....
Finally a good shot.

Easter basket cake

I found this new website called kaboose.com, and its really neat. Its got all kinds of information for parents and has arts and crafts to do with the kids. Also recipes. I found this recipe today for this easter basket bundt cake. I thought it was cute so i figured i would try to make it myself. To my surprise it actually turned out pretty cute for my first try. The kids helped put the eggs (easter candy) and bunnies on it and made it really beautiful. I cant wait to sink my teeth in it tomorrow (thats when were celebrating easter at my house). Well everyone have a wonderful easter with your families, and we'll do the same.

heres a picture of our easter basket cake.

Us Moms can relate

Did anyone tape or watch Oprah on tuesday (4-6-09)? They had a "moms tell all" show that all of us "may" be able to relate to LOL! Heres one article from the website that I found interesting and so true!

New mother Lisa Kogan had a choice—she could write this article, or she could wash her hair.... Does anybody have a hat?One year ago this month, I took a second job. And though it doesn't offer a dental plan, sick leave, vacation pay, profit sharing, a Christmas bonus, an expense account, a 401(k), or even a company softball team, it does provide plenty of job security: I will be a mother every day for the rest of my natural life.Raising a child—alone or with a partner—may be a labor of love, but, as anyone who's ever sung "The Wheels on the Bus" 11 times in a row can tell you, it's still labor. So imagine my weariness when I picked up a magazine in the pediatrician's waiting room touting the virtues of a little something called mommy time. Apparently the concept involves making it a priority to get out there and enjoy a manicure, a movie, a long lunch with an old friend—it's all about taking time for yourself on a regular basis. But here's the thing: I took 42 years for myself; now I'm taking time for a Cheerio-encrusted 21 pounder with three teeth, mashed banana in her eyebrows, and a tendency to wake up at 5 a.m. for breast milk and Blue's Clues.Who are these manicured mommies analyzing the latest indie flick over salad niçoise? Are they the same women who bake from scratch, do Pilates, run multimillion-dollar corporations, volunteer at nursing homes, and campaign for clean air while having soul-shredding sex with their adoring husbands 4.7 nights a week and twice on Sundays? Because I don't know any mommies like that. Maybe they hang out at a special playground located in old Doris Day movies—they sure don't live in my neighborhood. The women I know feel victorious when they actually manage to pick up their dry cleaning. We're a motley crew all in serious need of a haircut and a shot of caffeine. Like the Marines, we do more before 9 a.m. than most people do in a day. We've seen things in diapers that would send plenty of members of polite society shrieking into the night. There is no surface in our homes that doesn't feel sticky, no blouse in our closets that hasn't been irrevocably stained. There is no part of our physical beings that hasn't been gummed, sucked, gnawed, or spit up on. We live mostly on teething biscuits, rice cereal, and the edge—and that, for better or for worse, till preschool do us part, is mommy time. God may have rested on the seventh day, but let's be honest here, that's only because he sent his son to live with another family. In the words of the late, great Warren Zevon, "I'll sleep when I'm dead."

I had to chuckle while reading this article.....because that is so my life and some of my thoughts on a daily basis. Like I said "I'm sure we can all relate."

Lots of catching up to do

So I realize I have been M.I.A again due to the big move. Well needless to say I have a lot of catching up to do. We have officially moved into our house, and I just cant say enough positive things about it. Its perfect for me and my brood. We are pretty much all settled with only a few boxes here and ther that need to be unpacked. We started our decorating (putting up pics and things) a couple of days ago and its really coming along nicely. It really feels like our home now. The kids just love their own space down in the basement. I think its good for them to have their own little place to go and do their own thing. It gives them a little independence. They just love the backyard too. We dabbled a little bit last weekend in the garden....cleaning out the leaves and loosening the soil. It was a lot of fun. The kids really like to help in the garden too. Theres already things starting to blossom so I cant wait to see how it looks when everything is fully grown. Everything is as it should be. We are exhausted but happy to say the least.
Our new home.

Another exciting developement happened last night. The girls had parent teacher conferences and low and behold Marie gets a perfect attendance award and a Honor Roll award. Im so stinking proud of her. It literally brings a tear to my eye thinking about what a lovely little person she has become. She was so proud of herself. She called all her grandparents last night and bragged about it. Little Melodys teacher spoke so highly of her also. Her teacher said how wonderful her manners are and how well she listens and works in class. She says her improvemnet from the first of the year to now is huge. So I am just so proud of both of them.
